2026 Korean take-home pay calculator
Applies 2026 rates for Korea's four insurances and income tax to give monthly take-home pay, with a table by salary.
2026 is a year when take-home pay falls. Pension reform raises the National Pension from 9% to 9.5% (the employee's share from 4.5% to 4.75%), and health insurance has gone from 7.09% to 7.19%. The same salary leaves less in hand than last year. The pension does not stop there: it rises another 0.5 points a year to 13% by 2033. Enter a salary and this shows what each of the four insurances and income tax take, and what lands each month.

Where that sits
Among 21,078,535 wage earners in Korea
top 33%
About 6,955,917 people earn more than you. The average total salary in your band is ₩47,373,390.
An approximation from the National Tax Service's published breakdown of wage income by percentile. The data gives the average of each band rather than its boundary, so this names the first band whose average falls below your total salary. Only people with employment income are counted — the self-employed and those without work are not. How the income tax came out
This estimates the tax finally assessed at year-end settlement. What is withheld each month follows the National Tax Service's simplified withholding table instead, and the difference is settled at the end of the year. Only personal allowances and pension contributions are included here — card spending, medical costs, insurance and housing deductions are not — so the tax actually assessed is often lower than this.

Common questions
QWhy has take-home pay fallen in 2026?
The National Pension rate rose from 9% to 9.5% under the 2025 amendment to the National Pension Act, taking the employee's share from 4.5% to 4.75%. The health insurance rate rose from 7.09% to 7.19% at the same time, so the two compound.
QWill the pension rate keep rising?
Yes. From 9.5% in 2026 it rises 0.5 points a year to 13% in 2033. In return the income replacement rate has been raised to 43%.
QWhat counts as non-taxable pay?
A meal allowance is the common one, non-taxable up to ₩200,000 a month. Non-taxable pay is excluded from both the four insurances and income tax, so at the same salary more of it means more in hand. A car allowance and childcare allowance also qualify where the conditions are met.
QThe income tax here differs from my payslip
This calculator divides the annual assessed tax from year-end settlement by twelve. What is actually withheld each month follows the National Tax Service's simplified withholding table, so it differs, and the gap is settled at year end. Credit card, medical and insurance deductions are not included either, so the real tax is often lower than shown.
QHow is my percentile worked out?
From the National Tax Service's published wage-income percentile (per-thousand) data — about 21.08 million people with employment income, ordered by income. It shows the first band whose average falls below your total salary. The data gives band averages rather than boundaries, so the result is approximate, and it excludes the self-employed and those without work. The comparison uses total salary after non-taxable pay.
QDoes the pension contribution keep rising with a higher salary?
No. The standard monthly income is capped, and contributions are charged only up to ₩6.37m a month (applying July 2025 to June 2026). Above that, a higher salary does not raise the pension contribution.
